Teardrops

After our shower today you stared at the glass and said, “Mom. I don’t know why they keep falling. The teardrops”.

(I squished you so hard while kissing your nose and told you they were left over water drops from the shower)

Princess blues

I’m not a fan of princesses. Slowly, you are becoming one. I didn’t want you to be. I still don’t, but I know how much of a motivator “the forbidden” can be. So, I temper your interest in them by injecting my perspective on the often “helpless”female roles they play. I play up their heroine edge. I suppose some of them aren’t soooo bad.

Sleep

It’s not time to act up
It’s time to wind down

We had a great day
All around town

Give thanks today
For the memories we’ll keep

We’ll make more tomorrow
For now, not a peep

Go on love
Go get some sleep!

*I wrote this for you tonight after I finally got you to sleep. The words come to me so much easier these days. I have to stop saying I’m going to write children’s books and just do it. If not for me then for you*
