18 months

Xol turned 19 months old the day before yesterday! It’s flying by. She is turning into such a dramatic child! She’s learned her “emotions” and makes different faces for happy, sad, etc. When she says someone is or was crying she makes such a serious face to match that emotion. She identifies when things are funny as welll! She makes “jokes” too. She is constantly concerned with where everyone is. Especially Papo, Pop, the dog, Maya, Nina and Louie’s friend Lenny. People are usually at “werk” if you let Xol tell it. Even the dog! She’s constantly telling strangers that I’m her mom or that louie is her dad. She’s been running for a few months (since 15 mos), but now she is really good at it! She repeats most everything and her vocabulary is seriously impressive. She has 2 word sentences down, spits out 3 word sentences regularly and has attempted 4 word sentences here and there. A couple of weeks ago she was telling Papo that her dad had left, in Spanish. She said to him, “Pop, fue”. Papo doubted her and asked, a couple of times, in response, “Fue? Fue?” and she looked him dead in the eyes and said, “Go!!”. Hahaha!! Do not doubt the almighty Xun, son! She loves other kids! I have to do a better job of socializing her. I have taught her so many things, but i cannot be anyone but me….So, off to school we go. Starting the parent child program next week!! Hoping this hippy school will fill the void. Oh, and I mentioned before I let her watch a DVD on Christmas morning and a time or two afterwards. I let her watch another one (rhythm and sound) and a potty training DVD each, once. Then I realized I didn’t like it. She started asking for TV and it scared me! The few moments of not having to entertain her myself were nice, but I didn’t want to create a monster at such a young age! Enter Pop. He lets her watch the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse at least a few times per week!!! He calls it educational!! Why I outta!! Truth be told, she LOVES the mouse. Anyhow, she also begs to dance on xbox kinect!! She can’t get enough dancing. Seriously. Oh and lest I forget, Xol has 2 favorite books at the moment. Mud Tacos, which we read at least 6 times per day. I’ve taken to using interesting voices for the characters, to numb the boredom. There’s a chola, gay boy and valley girl so far. The other book is, If You Give a Cat a Cupcake. That only incites her need for cupcakes. She’s eaten cake 3 or 4 times this month!! She got close to Abui this month. The cool part is Abui likes her!!! If you know Abui, you know she has her favorites and isn’t shy about telling you who she doesn’t care for. Well, Xol won her over with her charm, kisses and giggles. Thank God!! Xol also mentions Santa pretty often…followed by saying, “Crying” with a sad face. I constantly have to remind her it was HER that was crying when she met Santa!! This child also LOVES the park. The only problem is she is always trying to walk over to the big kids playground. Really, who could blame her? Xol is ahead of her time. She’s an old soul with an infectiously giggly smile. Speaking of her smile, she got two molars this month! She doesn’t always chew like a rabbit anymore! She says peekaboo when she plays it now and she still prefers books over toys. She went to Disneyland for the first time and it was a relative hit. Xol is not easily impressed! She hit up the aquarium and the zoo again this month. By the way, just because Xol knows all her animals and sounds, doesn’t mean she likes to look at them in the flesh. Not so much. Guess that petting zoo will have to wait! Life just keeps getting better. I thank God for Xol every day. Xol is life! I am alive.
